Care Guide

How to Care for Your Reloved Piece

Every piece leaves the studio freshly laundered - but here's how to keep it that way.

Washing

  • Cold water, gentle cycle - or use the handwash setting on your machine
  • Hand wash knitwear and anything delicate
  • Spot clean where you can, most pieces don't need washing as often as you'd think
  • Vintage dyes can run, so test a hidden area first and wash alone or with a colour catcher if needed
  • Never bleach vintage fabric

Drying

  • Always skip the tumble dryer
  • Lay knitwear flat to dry - hanging stretches it out of shape
  • Hang lighter pieces to air dry, away from direct sunlight

Storing

  • Fold knitwear, don't hang it
  • Keep pieces away from direct sunlight to preserve colour
  • Use cedar or lavender to protect wool from moths - never plastic bags

Wool specifically

  • Naturally antibacterial and odour resistant, it needs washing far less than you think
  • I wash my wool pieces roughly once a season and air them out between wears

Need a repair? We sort any issues before a piece leaves the studio, but if something needs attention later - debobbling, darning, zipper replacement, stain removal, length adjustments, or anything else - just get in touch.
